HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke has announced new plans for the redevelopment of the 380 Dwight Street complex.
AACO Realty held a presentation with Mayor Alex Morse and Marcos Marrero, the Director of Planning and Economic Development for the City of Holyoke Wednesday to unveil the plans.
At the presentation, they discussed the first phase of the project, which will include creating a 26 energy-efficient condominiums.
The city hopes the Canal Gallery building will offer a unique, high quality live/work environment in Holyoke once phase one has been completed.
The redevelopment team plans to totally refurbish the building with energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, including a water-sourced heat pump system for heating and cooling the facility.
Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse said the project is an example of progress in Holyoke. “It is amazing to think that just a few years ago some folks wondered whether our existing buildings would be put to good use, and whether our downtown would make a comeback. This project, like so many of the other projects happening downtown, answers those doubts. This city has become a place where folks want to invest, and live, and raise their families. I couldn’t be more excited about what this new development at 380 Dwight Street will do to bolster our already strong efforts to build a prosperous and densely populated downtown,” he said.
An open house event presenting the plans and objectives of the upcoming renovation is scheduled for Thursday, November 12th, from 5-7 PM.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2016.
