Setting the Record Straight: MAYOR ALEX MORSE TO HOLD TOWN HALL EVENT

Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse will be holding a town hall meeting aimed at setting the record straight on an issue affecting residents of Wards 5A and 7A. Morse wrote in a message alerting residents to the meeting that “no stormwater fee has been implemented, and there is no order for it being considered by the city council.”

Mayor Morse is currently exploring options for how to cover a multi-million dollar unfunded federal mandate. “Doing nothing is not an option and in fact would put additional burden on Holyoke residents’ property taxes. With your key input, we can work creatively to alleviate this burden to your family and other Holyoke taxpayers,” Morse said.

Already during Morse’s tenure, the city has collected more sewer fees than under any other administration. “We have worked aggressively on this issue and will continue to do so. Sewer rates haven’t increased during the past four years, nor am I seeking to increase them,” Morse said.

The Town Hall Meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 13 at 6 p.m. at the Pilsudski Club at 200 County Road.
